Halloween reminds me of the innocence that still exists in our sometimes crazy, violence-stricken world. Children, tiny to teen, dress up (and sometimes their parents do too). It is the one day a year everyone can pretend to be someone or something they aren’t. Not only is fun allowed, it is an expectation. Halloween is a holiday of fun with no strings attached. Gratitude is not necessary. No gift giving or birthday celebrating. No airing of grievances, feats of strengths, acts of forgiveness or prayers of the faithful. Nope, nothing heavy or solemn or serious here.
